After a gloriously sunny bank holiday weekend Londoners can expect a dreary end to August. Rain will blight the capital for the foreseeable, with thunderstorms even forecast for next week.

Festival and carnival celebrators were treated to a weekend of clear skies and temperatures in the mid-twenties. But it looks like this could be the last of the summer sun as we go into nearly two weeks of on-and-off showers.

Light showers are forecast to creep in today (Wednesday, August 27) until the following Wednesday (September 3), with temperatures staying in the low-twenties range. There will be some some brief respite from the rain on Sunday and Tuesday - although it is still predicted to remain cooler than it has been.
