A new political movement calling itself “SOS” — an acronym traditionally recognized as a distress signal — has recently emerged in Idaho, with increasing visibility across social media and local events.
Purportedly standing for “Save Our Schools,” the group, which is being sponsored by Reclaim Idaho and the Idaho Education Association, has positioned itself as a defender of public education. But after attending a recent town hall in Idaho Falls and reviewing statements from participants, it’s clear that this initiative may be more about preserving institutional power than improving educational outcomes for students.
