Motorists born before 1955 are being urged to take immediate action or risk potential arrest, as drivers aged 70 and above must refresh their driving licence every three years. ‌

The DVLA released a new alert this week on X stating: "If you're 70 or over, you need to renew your driving licence every 3 years. Do it online – you'll get your new licence within a week." ‌

Continuing to operate a vehicle with a lapsed licence means driving without valid insurance, which represents a serious breach carrying harsh penalties, including hefty fines and possible seizure of the vehicle by police. ‌

Drivers are also required to declare any fresh medical conditions and confirm their vision satisfies necessary standards.
