Two Boston hospitals tied for the ranking of best hospital in Massachusetts by U.S. News & World Report this year.

The media company released its 2025-2026 list of 504 Best Regional Hospitals that have "demonstrated superior outcomes," including 15 in the Bay State.

Nationally, the company analyzed performance data from 4,400 hospitals using factors such as nursing care, avoidable complications, and risk-adjusted mortality rates.

Different procedures and care plans were considered and rated one of three ways: high performing, as expected, or evaluated.

Massachusetts is ranked second in the country for healthcare , based on factors such as care access, quality, and public health outcomes, the media company says.
