Sports gambling remains verboten in SC

Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia have legalized sports gambling, claiming tax dollars and other fees for each bet that's placed within their boundaries. Yet, sports gambling remains off-limits in the Palmetto State even as another football season has arrived.

A push to get House Bill 3625 approved remains even as its father ( state rep. Chris Murphy, R-District 98 ) is resigning come Jan. 5. The hope among its supporters is that someone steps up to take over a fight that's been lingering for years.
