Pleasantville to be sprayed for mosquitoes Thursday

The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control has scheduled ground spraying for portions of Pleasantville on Thursday.

Spraying will take place, weather permitting, between 4:30 and 6 a.m. in an area bounded by West Washington Avenue, North Second Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, North First Street, West Adams Avenue, Linden Avenue, Woodland Avenue, Islesworth Avenue and Somerset Avenue.

At least one mosquito pool sample collected from Pleasantville, in the 700 block of West Park Avenue, tested positive for West Nile virus this year, county officials have said.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency does not require people to relocate or take special precautions during mosquito spraying. The public may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors during application;
