An Aberdeen man was sentenced to five years in federal prison on Aug. 18 for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell reported that Judge Charles B. Kornmann sentenced Kaleb Lee Fletcher Kapit, 44. After his five-year sentence, he will be placed on five years of supervised release. Kapit was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Kapit was indicted for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance by a federal grand jury in February 2024, according to a release. He pleaded guilty on May 19, 2025, the release stated.
