Bank holiday move could get you extra days off in 2026

We've just enjoyed one of the final bank holidays for 2025, and many are likely already looking forward to the remaining ones this year, as well as those in store for 2026. Next year, the Boxing Day bank holiday will "shift" from its usual date of December 26.

This is due to Boxing Day falling on a Saturday, which means there will be a substitute bank holiday on the following Monday, December 30. If your annual leave resets on January 1, this means you'll start the new year with a fresh batch of time off.
