Donald Trump has once again repeated his favourite Kremlin talking point by suggesting Ukraine had waged war on Russia.

The US president overlooked the fact that the conflict began with Russia’s invasion of its neighbour in February, 2022.

Since then, Ukraine has been defending itself as Vladimir Putin tries to achieve his ambition of taking over the whole country.

But despite that, Trump said Ukraine had been wrong to “go into a war” with a country 15 times its size.

He said: “War is very tricky, very horrible, but with war you never know. Things change. People go into war thinking they’re going to win the war and they get their asses kicked and they lose their country and they lose millions of lives.
