MISSOULA — The Montana football team will play 12 regular season games this year, which will become the norm in the FCS starting in 2026.
Teams in the subdivision have normally played 11 games in the regular season except when the calendar fell a certain way to allow enough Saturdays for 12 games, most recently in 2024 and 2019.
This will be the last season with eight Big Sky Conference games as the league is moving to nine in 2026 because of the change to 12 regular season games.
