Dayle Dixon feels trapped in a nightmare as the dream new-build home she and her partner Mark Lee bought is so riddled with problems that her young grandson can no longer come to stay.

The couple are desperate to sell the property in Ivybridge, Devon, they purchased for £275,000 in 2018 – but say they have been told it is only valued at £1 due to major defects, including structural issues.

Ms Dixon, 54, told The i Paper : “I feel we are completely and utterly trapped. I still cry about it all the time as we were sold a dream that turned out to be nothing but a nightmare.

“We can’t sell our house and we can’t decorate it. We are just living here knowing it is crumbling beneath us and we fear it will collapse.”
