Atlantic City, NJ – A man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly threatening an off-duty officer with a knife during a violent boardwalk confrontation that began when the officer intervened to stop what appeared to be a woman being dragged under the Boardwalk.
Just after 10 a.m. during the Seedorf/McMeekin Memorial 5K Run, Atlantic City Police Lieutenant James Herbert saw a man on the beach with a woman in a headlock, allegedly pulling her toward the underside of the Boardwalk near New York Avenue. Herbert, though off-duty and in civilian clothes, intervened and attempted to separate them while instructing a fellow runner to call 911.
