Martin Lewis debunks petrol myth as drivers try to save money at pumps

Financial guru Martin Lewis has debunked a popular myth that many drivers believe will help them squeeze extra fuel from their money. Petrol and diesel prices have fluctuated wildly in recent months as the cost of living crisis and soaring inflation continue to bite, leaving motorists keen to avoid wasting money where possible.

Writing on his Money Saving Expert (MSE) platform, Mr Lewis explained that while some may think filling up during the night can be cheaper, it is actually unlikely to deliver drivers more fuel for less money. He said: "Talk of filling up at night getting you more is a slight urban myth, as the difference is miniscule - pennies at best.
