A Detroit couple accused of making $150,000 in fraudulent disability insurance claims has been ordered to stand trial, state officials said Tuesday.

Tukua Young and Brandon Young were bound over by a 36th District Court judge, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Both are scheduled to be arraigned in Wayne County Circuit Court on Sept. 9.

"Disability insurance is important for Michiganders when they need extra support, and those who engage in fraud related to these policies drive up the cost of insurance for all Michigan consumers and businesses," Anita Fox, director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, or DIFS, said in a statement. “We are committed to working with the Attorney General to prosecute insurance fraud to protect Michigan consumers."
