While Kelowna people were walking the virtual streets of Ukraine Saturday, Prime Minister Mark Carney was standing on the real roads in Kyiv.
Both were helping Ukraine mark its 34th Independence Day and to support Ukrainians as they fight for survival as a people, as a country, as a culture against Russian aggression.
Carney was promising the Ukrainians that Canada would stand with them.
“We’re investing $2 billion in new military assistance to Ukraine,” the prime minister said while standing beside President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after being invited to the ceremonies as a special guest. “They will be delivered next month.”
