MERCED COUNTY, Calif. —
A small private plane crashed just south of Los Banos in Merced County Tuesday evening, leaving no survivors, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies said they found one person dead in the plane after the crash around 7 p.m. They do not believe there was anyone else on board.
The pilot has not yet been identified, but authorities said the plane took off from a small airport near San Jose.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are now investigating the crash.
