SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
While today will be a mild August day in the valley, more storms are expected in the Sierra.
A comfortable morning will give way to a sunny and reasonably warm afternoon, with valley highs near 90 degrees. Foothill highs will reach the upper 80s. Conditions should remain dry as storms in the Sierra move east.
In the Sierra, however, another Flood Watch goes into effect at noon as more storms develop along the crest. The afternoon will be active once again, with scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain, small hail, and gusty winds possible. Flooding remains a concern, as some areas are already saturated from storms earlier this week. Storm activity should taper off after sunset.
As the weather pattern shifts and the monsoonal high continues to move out, drier air will se
