A family of five and their dog had to be rescued by the RNLI after being cut off by a rising tide while at the coast.

The family got into trouble at Kynance Cove in Cornwall before two cafe workers on their paddleboards and the coastguard sprang to their rescue.

The incident took place on the Lizard peninsula at around 6pm on Monday, August 25, when Otis the dog and his owners were caught out by the swell rising from Hurricane Erin.

An RNLI lifeboat, commanded by Darren Thirlaway, launched just ten minutes later following reports of a dog and its family being trapped by the incoming tide.
