ASHEVILLE – The city will enter into a $4.6 million contract with a Boston-based firm to provide design and engineering services needed to rebuild the French Broad riverfront park system.

In September, Tropical Storm Helene ravaged the city’s riverfronts. Flooding and other storm devastation caused at least $25 million in destruction to the area that is home to 200-plus acres of public parks, greenways and recreation facilities along the river.
