LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) are investigating after a shooting just blocks away from a soccer game at Central High School on Tuesday.

According to police, the shooting happened around 8:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of Congress Street in the Russell neighborhood.

LMPD said officers found a man, believed to be in his 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the knee.

The victim was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital to be treated. Police said he is expected to survive.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is handling the investigation.
