A former Foley Municipal Court magistrate was arrested Aug. 22 for allegedly furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.

Joseph Fredrick Bischoff, 64, of Foley, has been accused of buying a THC vape device for a 17-year-old, according to court records.

This classifies as a Class A felony in Alabama, punishable by life in prison or a definite term of 10 to 99 years, according to legal code.

This is not Bischoff’s first charge alleging inappropriate behavior around minors.

In 2011, he was accused of inappropriately touching a girl under the age of 16, but court records do not show if he was convicted.

Bischoff was released Tuesday on a $100,000 bond and is required to wear an electronic ankle monitor and have no contact with minors under the conditions of his release, according to c
