MINNEAPOLIS — The community is expressing shock and grief following Wednesday morning's school shooting in Minneapolis.
Chief of Police Brian O'Hara confirmed that two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed in the shooting. Another 17 suffered gunshot wounds and 14 of those were students. Two of the injured are in critical condition.
Officials said the shooter is contained and that there is no active threat.
The incident began unfolding around 8:30 a.m. at Annunciation Church, 509 W. 54th Street, on the city's far south side.
Annunciation, a pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade school, had an all-school Mass scheduled at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. Monday was the first day of school for Annunciation.
