ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) - Two men now face a slew of drug charges in connection with an incident earlier this week.

St. Albans police say they pulled over a car for suspected drug activity on Monday.

The driver was identified as Jose Coiscou-Mercedes, 24, of Staten Island, New York, and the passenger as Brandy Perez, 21, of Springfield, Massachusetts.

Police say that as their K-9 began to search the car, the men took off, driving dangerously. Police say they crashed on Swanton Road and ran into the woods.

Officers say the men were found, along with cash, a loaded gun and drugs inside the car.

According to Vermont’s inmate tracker, both men were released on bail and have a number of court-ordered conditions.
