The 60th annual Mount Baldy Run-to-the-Top Labor Day trail race will be held 8 a.m. Sept. 1 in the Angeles National Forest.

The race begins at the top of Mount Baldy Road at 6,300 feet and ends on the summit of Mount San Antonio (also known as Mount Baldy) at 10,064 feet. There is a total elevation gain of 4,000 feet in the race of 7-plus miles, making this one of the most challenging trail races in California, according to a news release.

The race is a fundraiser for San Antonio Canyon Town Hall. From the race proceeds, annual donations are made to the Mount Baldy Fire Department and West Valley Search & Rescue, according to the news release. Support for those first responders also benefits the thousands of visitors who hike, bike and play on Mount Baldy.
