AMERICUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A woman who was reported missing out of Sumter County on Tuesday was found dead, according to authorities.
On Tuesday, the Sumter County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help in a search for 65-year-old Caroline Durrance after she was last seen at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Sunday at her home located at 111 Cartwright Road.
Sumter County Sheriff Eric D. Bryant issued an update saying that on Tuesday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to the area of west Lamar Street after the Americus Police Department located the Durrance's vehicle.
Deputies then searched the area and found a woman who matched Durrance's description under the bridge.
The sheriff's office said the scene was then turned over to the Americus Police Department.
