WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A man is facing charges after police said he fired multiple gunshots near Winter Springs officers.

The shooting happened around midnight Wednesday at the intersection of State Road 434 and State Road 419.

According to an arrest report, officers were standing outside their patrol vehicles at The Church @ 434 when the suspect opened fire. Officers said they heard five gunshots about 200 feet away near a tree line before they proceeded to investigate.

Police found Devin Laron Williams, 20, and detained him. During a search, officers discovered a Glock 43 handgun on Williams with the slide locked back, indicating it had been recently fired, the report states. The firearm was not
