Leaders from the Latino community voiced their concerns Wednesday morning over President Donald Trump's plan to bring in the national guard.
This comes as the president again calls on Governor JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson to request his help to deal with crime in Chicago.
Among the groups were the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus, Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, Resurrection Project and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
"Chicago is going to be clear to this president who tries to identify ways to be able to silence us, to silence dissent, but that the attacks in Chicago, Illinois, are not about certain security. We know that. They're about trying to terrorize the resistance," Ramirez said.
