Homeowners, landlords and property owners with residential properties in areas at high risk of earthquake damage in the Bay Area are eligible to receive grants of up to $10,000 to seismically retrofit select houses that are vulnerable to earthquake damage, the California Residential Mitigation Program said. This is the first time the Earthquake Brace + Bolt grant program has been opened to non-primary residential property owners, meaning landlords can apply to retrofit rentals. The grant program is managed by the CRMP, a joint powers authority formed in 2011 by two state agencies — the California Earthquake Authority and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services.
