The town of Lipscomb will have a new mayor, but voters return to polls in a runoff to decide just who it will be.

Residents in Jefferson County town of about 2,000 located just outside Bessemer ended the term of current Mayor Tanja Baldwin and threw Councilwoman Lakendria Poellnitz and former police officer Robin (Rob) Sims into a runoff.

Baldwin received about 30 votes, versus Poellnitz who garnered 136 votes and Sims with 88 votes. Results are unofficial.

Lipscomb has seen tough times both economically and politically over the years as it struggles to attract businesses and a stable tax base to support the town.
