SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources said the spotted lanternfly has been confirmed in more than 50 cities and towns across the state.

Spotted lanternflies are an invasive species, but are not a threat to people or pets.

The department recommended those who are having issues with lanternflies should refer to the spotted lanternfly management website which offers advice and solutions
