At least 15 people were killed in what a Christian advocacy group has called "a coordinated evening assault on Christian farming villages" in Nigeria.

Armed attackers targeted multiple villages in Plateau State on August 18, according to International Christian Concern (ICC), a nonprofit and advocacy organization that focuses on Christian persecution, and Amnesty International Nigeria.

The assailants killed people, burnt homes and looted livestock, both organizations report, causing other families to leave their homes after the attack.

While it is not certain that every individual killed was a Christian, the villages targeted, including Tim, Koppang, Mihidihin, Jiblang, Jilem, Jibin and Manden, are generally Christian, along with the rest of the Mangu local authority.
