(KRON) -- A 16-year-old boy suspected in a shooting near an East Bay elementary school on Tuesday morning was later arrested while he attended class at Richmond High School, according to authorities.
The San Pablo Police Department responded at 9:42 a.m. to the area of 20th Street and Sanford Avenue, one block from Downer Elementary School, after a witness reported a boy pointing a handgun at a vehicle and hearing gunshots. After the shooting, the suspect and the victim, or victims, fled in opposite directions.
“Due to the reported close proximity to Downer Elementary School, an SPPD officer responded to the campus to contact school officials, and the campus was placed on lockdown as a precautionary safety measure,” San Pablo PD said.
Detectives identified a juvenile suspect believed to
