MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz has directed that all United States and Minnesota flags at state buildings be flown at half-staff to honor the lives lost to gun violence at Annunciation Catholic School.

"Minnesota is heartbroken by the senseless shooting that took place this morning," Walz said. He expressed prayers for the children and teachers affected by the tragic event.

Walz also thanked officers, first responders, clergy, teachers, and hospital staff for their efforts in providing comfort and saving lives. Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to lower their flags in solidarity.

Further guidance on when flags will be raised will be announced later. Download PDF
