Following the news of an authorized strike by school bus drivers and aides in Anne Arundel County, the county’s school superintendent, Mark Bedell, joined C4 and Bryan Nehman to provide insight.
While the strike was authorized this week, the vote did not immediately start a strike.
Bedell called the situation “interesting.”
“There’s a company called Student Transportation of America, and apparently, they bought out two of our companies, Wilson and Annapolis Transportation,” Bedell stated. “I guess whatever the situation is from a negotiating standpoint, either side is not agreeing. And so, it does put us in a position where we’re powerless. Where I do have power is to look at trying to reassign as many of these routes as I possibly can.”
