A Salem man was sentenced to federal prison Tuesday for overseeing the production and shipments of thousands of pounds marijuana-infused candy and cereals to customers around the world.

Antonio I. Benjamin, 53, pleaded guilty to conspiring to launder money and possess marijuana with intent to distribute Feb. 27, court records show.

Portland U.S. District Court Judge Amy Baggio sentenced him to 12 years in federal prison and five years of post-prison supervision.

Benjamin ran the illegal operation with Jered H. Hayward, 45, of Salem, who was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison in June after pleading guilty to the same charges, Salem Reporter previously reported .
