PORT HURON, MI – A brand-new fan festival is preparing to make waves in the Blue Water Area this weekend. Ozokucon will fill the Blue Water Convention Center with anime, cosplay, video games, panels and performances, but its heart lies in something much bigger: community.
Executive director Matthew Muns said the convention grew out of a passion for both the arts and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. “It is a place that is a safe place for everyone and that is really important to me,” he said.
Ozokucon isn’t designed for just one type of fan. Organizers wanted the event to feel more like a festival than a traditional “comic-con,” with activities that appeal to all ages and levels of interest.
