The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) responded to a small wildfire south of Rogers Lake this week. The Aspen Fire was ignited by lightning on Sunday, Aug. 24, and reached a size of approximately 35 acres by Tuesday.

The fire is located on Le Barron Hill, less than a mile from Woody Mountain Road and roughly 5 miles northwest of Kachina Village. No structures are threatened, but the fire sent noticeable smoke into Flagstaff on Monday morning. Copy article link
