WINNIPEG – An inquest into the death of a Thunder Bay man killed at Stony Mountain prison has been announced.
Manitoba’s chief medical examiner, Dr. John K. Younes, called an inquest into the death of 36-year-old Nathan Otke, on Wednesday.
Otke was an inmate at Stony Mountain Institution and was found unresponsive in his cell following an assault on Jan. 1, 2022.
He had sustained a skull fracture and traumatic brain injury and died at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Feb. 7, 2022.
The medical examiner’s office was notified and an autopsy was done.
Otke’s cause of death was determined to be traumatic brain injury from blunt head trauma and the manner of death was homicide.
