Around 8:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, a shooter opened fire through the windows of a Catholic church in Minneapolis, where children were attending Mass to mark the first week at Annunciation Catholic School. At least two children were killed in the shooting, and at least 17 other people were injured, according to NBC News .

The shooter reportedly approached the side of Annunciation Church (which is next to the school) armed with a rifle, shotgun, and pistol and then shot dozens of rounds inside the church, where students were praying. The children killed were 8 and 10 years old. Of those wounded, 14 were children and three were elderly parishioners.
