KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knoxville radio station put out a call for help — and listeners answered.
In July, 10News reported that WDVX was struggling to find more funding after federal cuts.
The station has been on the airwaves for 28 years, showcasing local musicians from southern Appalachia and highlighting different arts events across East Tennessee. Its general manager, Tony Lawson, said their mission is unique—no news, just music.
WDVX announced Wednesday that listeners showed up to support them, raising over $60,000 for the station in just a few short weeks.
"Everyone at WDVX is grateful for, not only the financial support, but also the words of encouragement and the many, many positive comments from our listeners," WDVX said.
