OCEAN CITY, Md. — Ocean City's offshore wind farm project was caught in the crosshairs of a legal challenge by President Donald Trump's administration as the president and his allies continued their attacks on mills.
The U.S. Department of the Interior brought its case against US Wind to a U.S. District Court in Baltimore on Tuesday, filing jointly with the mayor and city council of Ocean City.
In revoking the Eastern Shore's wind farms, the Trump administration was attempting to follow through on an executive order signed in January to withdraw federal offshore wind leasing.
Trump has frequently railed against the use of windmills and wind farms as a renewable energy source, calling the mills "ugly."
