FORT MILL, S.C. (WBTV) - A Mecklenburg County detention center officer was killed Wednesday afternoon after being involved in a vehicle crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday, Aug. 27, they were notified by South Carolina State Highway Patrol that 30-year-old Aaron Tindall, a detention officer with Mecklenburg County, was killed in a vehicle crash.

The South Carolina State Highway Patrol said Tindall was involved in a vehicle crash around noon on Wednesday in Fort Mill.

Details on how the crash occurred was not released at the time of this writing.

Officials said Tindall has been employed with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office since April 2, 2025.
