RCMP search for pair of missing boaters after canoe capsizes in Rocky Mountains

KANANASKIS — Alberta RCMP are searching for a pair of boaters in their 30s after their canoe capsized on a lake in the Rocky Mountains.

Mounties say four people were in the canoe Tuesday afternoon when it overturned on Upper Kananaskis Lake.

Bystanders in their boats and paddleboards pulled a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman from the water, but another man and woman, also in their 30s, remain missing.

Rescuers continue to search the area tucked behind several mountain tops near Alberta's boundary with British Columbia.

It's the second time in two weeks that a boat overturned in the Rockies, after a 60-year-old man and his 30-year-old son died when their canoe capsized on Barrier Lake, an hour's drive west of Calgary.

A 56-year-old woman in the boat was hospitalized with hypothe
