BATAVIA — The president and chief executive officer of Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp. late Wednesday afternoon announced that earnings and surcharge distributions to the public benefit company’s 17 member municipalities are projected to hit $10 million in 2025 — up more than $3 million from the previous year.
Byron Brown, speaking to about 175 county, city and state lawmakers and guests at the annual Legislative Night at Batavia Downs Gaming, pointed to the WROTB’s success in having its state tax rate reduced by 5 percent as a key factor in the corporation’s ability to not only increase disbursements to the 15 counties and cities of Buffalo and Rochester, but also to reduce healthcare costs and offer raises to its employees.
