Bailey Zappe is returning to a familiar place.

The former New England Patriots quarterback signed with the Cleveland Browns practice squad, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported .

Zappe was cut by the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday ahead of the 4 p.m. deadline for teams to get their rosters down to 53.

The Patriots’ fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft spent two seasons in New England. Zappe was Mac Jones’ backup until the latter was benched for the former — which ignited some controversy in Foxborough before both of the quarterbacks’ tenures came to an end after the 2023 season.
