GREENVILLE, Texas — The city of Greenville reported a cyber incident affecting certain city technology systems earlier this month, officials said, prompting immediate action to secure networks and restore services.
City officials said the incident was identified on Aug. 5, and protective measures were implemented immediately. Affected systems were isolated, law enforcement was contacted, and a third-party cybersecurity firm was brought in to mitigate the damage, officials said.
“...at this time, it appears some internal files were impacted,” the City said in a statement. “...we have no evidence showing that personal information belonging to employees or citizens was impacted by the incident."
