PITTSBURGH —

A lawsuit was filed Wednesday by attorneys representing William "B" Marshall and his wife, Margo, organizers of the Western Pennsylvania Juneteenth Celebration. The lawsuit alleges that Mayor Ed Gainey and the City of Pittsburgh violated the Marshall’s First and 14th Amendment rights, among other counts.

The lawsuit alleges that Gainey attempted to take over the celebration following his election to the mayor's office. Advertisement

"Mr. Gainey turned his back on his constituents and the people that elected him by trying to take over the Juneteenth celebration from B and Margo," Attorney Joel Sansone told Action News 4 on Wednesday.
