PITTSBURGH —

A Pittsburgh City councilmember said in a post on social media Wednesday that an old Rite Aid location within the city limits will now be turned into a Sheetz gas station.

"I'm so happy that they chose our district to do something first, for the first time," Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith (D-District 2) told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 on Wednesday. Advertisement

Kail-Smith first made the announcement on Facebook, saying that the Rite Aid on Banksville Road would be turning into a Sheetz gas station in the near future.

She says she has been working with the property owner to figure out what could move into the space, and the owner confirmed to her that he signed paperwork last week to open a Sheetz gas station.
