MILAM COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - The Milam County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is searching for a local man accused of running away or hiding after shooting his girlfriend on Tuesday morning near Buckholts. He remains on the run.

According to MCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 1800 block of CR 104 off FM 1915 around 11 a.m. A 24-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. She told authorities her boyfriend shot her.

The boyfriend was identified as 38-year-old Cody Villareal.
