A hundred or so attendees packed Arcadia’s city chambers for a special meeting at on Tuesday, Aug. 26, some even wielding signs relaying two messages at odds with each other:
“I Stand With Mayor Kwan.” “Censure Kwan.”
At the center of the meeting was a debate on whether to censure Mayor Sharon Kwan and relinquish her of key mayoral duties.
This is the first time a council has called for censure, a formal stance of disapproval, in Arcadia.
During the meeting, Councilmember David Fu, who spearheaded the request for censure, spent nearly two hours outlining 10 alleged misdeeds by Kwan.
“She’s indolent and unprepared for her role. When contradicted or confronted, she attacks, belittles and lies to save face,” Fu said during the meeting.
